FROM THE HONEY BARREL TO THE HONEY JAR

Our honey factory in Tenneck is a veritable hive of activity. Everything starts in the raw materials warehouse, which houses some 3,000 to 4,000 tonnes of honey in barrels yearly. Up to 100 tonnes of honey are made into the finest-quality honey by Honigmayr each week.

HOW OUR HONEY SPECIALITIES ARE PACKED

The honey production results in the finest Honigmayr honey. It is only then that the honey is packaged. By the way, that process is still performed by hand at Honigmayr. This is where the Honigmayr honey specialities are filled into our honey jars and dispenser bottles, soon to be enjoyed by you.

WE GIVE HONEY THE TIME THAT IT NEEDS

After the raw materials warehouse, the honey enters the heat chamber, where crystallised honey is liquefied. Next, all the honey barrels are emptied together into a large honey tank. The Honigmayr honey is slowly tempered here for 24 hours to dissolve any remaining sugar crystals. Next our honey is strained into vats for purification purposes. At this stage, air in the honey settles on the surface and can be siphoned off.

Top quality – in every single jar of honey. Honigmayr is committed to the very highest quality standards. That is not only inspected regularly in internal and external laboratories, but also certified.

Honigmayr’s entire organic range has been certified by Lacon GmbH. That means that our organic honey satisfies the strict rules of the EU Organic Production Regulation and is regularly checked by the organic inspection body. When our honey is labelled “organic”, that means it is 100% organic!

The IFS certificate serves as an audit of food safety and the quality standards of food production companies. Honigmayr’s honey-making process satisfies all the requirements of the International Food Standard for food safety and product quality.

When “Austria” is on the label, that means the product is 100% from Austria. We source our Austrian honey exclusively from selected, regional bee-keepers that we have worked together with for many years.

The careful quality checks during the honey production process begin once the honey arrives, when several samples are taken and rigorously inspected. That is performed both in external laboratories and in our own laboratories, where the quality of our honey is rigorously checked several times throughout the production process until the honey ends up in the honey jars and honey dispensers. The widest possible range of analyses is used. The analyses focus on identifying any possible deposits and on checking the purity and integrity of the honey.

In their search for the most beautiful and pristine landscapes of the world, our experienced Honigmayr experts have found what they were looking for not only in Austria, but also in Spain, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Chile, Mexico, Cuba and Argentina. These countries have untouched natural spots with immense diversity of flora, guaranteeing the highest-quality honey.

WE KNOW THE JOURNEY TAKEN BY OUR HONEY

Our honey is only processed once it has been actively approved by the management, laboratory, quality management and procurement. Each honey barrel has a barcode for tracking to enable checking where the honey is from and which bee-keeper it was supplied by at any time. Even when Honigmayr honey has been packed, taste samples are taken at the start, middle and end of every production batch to ensure consistently high quality, so that you will enjoy only honey of the finest quality on your bread at the end of the Honigmayr honey journey.
