A bee colony can consist of up to 80,000 bees. The center or heart of every bee colony is the queen bee, who’s main purpose is to lay eggs thus ensuring the survival of the hive. The workers, also female, are in charge of the offspring’s welfare. Of course, they earned their name accordingly—worker bees are also responsible for collecting food. In addition, the male drones complete the hive. The drones are responsible for mating with the queen bee.
